Why Choose Storybook Theatre?
The Theatre Arts provide a child-friendly atmosphere for teaching vital life goals such as teamwork, respect, and camaraderie. My goal is to teach theatre and music to the children in our community including children with special needs, children at risk, and children who deserve special attention to help them progress through their life journey. So I’m asking you to support me in this dream to give these kids a better life, to give the community a better connection, and to work together as a team to make our community great.
Below is a list of life skills that will be worked on in each class:
Acting: As we work on acting skills, we will incorporate appropriate social interaction, metacognition training (how does this character feel?), social stories, make-believe play, flexibility, and many other life skills.
Theatre Design: This is for those who are interested in drawing and creating 2D and 3D art. We will pick a play or short story, and design a stage set, props, costume renderings, and hopefully some basic lighting designs. This class focuses on creativity, being able to communicate/put on paper the thoughts/designs of the mind, social skills, how to compliment, how to focus on details, following directions, etc.
